Our portfolio of high-performance aerospace alloys is protected by more than 35 active patents.

Over the last few years, innovations of Alcan Global Aerospace have played a pivotal role in the development of new Low Density alloys. These enable significant weight savings thanks to their improved density and mechanical properties. They are available in sheet, extrusion or plate form.

Al-Cu-Li alloy offer a step change in corrosion performance, reducing maintenance needs and cost.

For example, damage tolerant Al-Cu-Li fuselage sheet offers a more than 30% increase in strength and improved damage tolerance. It also shows a 4% decrease in density, compared with previous alloys. As a result the total weight reduction potential is circa 15-20% more than incumbent alloys.

Further significant cost and weight savings for the aerospace industry result from the innovative combination of aluminium alloys, design and joining techniques.
